here is some work I did over the past 2 weekends. large house full of AV gear, CCTV, various computers.
originally had a structured media panel that was removed and rack was installed.
I was called in to clean up the cabling, install a patch panel, re-terminate all the jacks to 'B' standard, trace out and label. This past weekend I also installed a second 24 port patch panel at the rack and a 12 port patch panel in a closet.

my personal favorite: there was one drop the AV company just could not get to work...they apparently spent hours terminating and reterminating, this is how they left it!

UPON FURTHER REVIEW, they got 6 of 8, only reversed the Blue-White and Green-White.

Doesn't anyone use sleeve's anymore to transition between the ceiling and the room...with a little Firestop!?!?!?!

Totally off topic, I love the AVE shirt.

I have his 555 IC shirt.

Dean, never once seen sleeves in a house.
The ceiling tiles were cut already.
Chris, glad to see another AvE fan!

Any time I make a penetration through a hard ceiling I use a sleeve and fire block, if I'm only going through a drop ceiling tile I will just use a sleeve. Going through walls is a different matter and will depend on how the wall is built of it it is a fire block.

They are in a finished basement so they still have access to everything mounted to the floor joist above it.

Single dwellings generally aren't worth pulling the van out of the garage...let Sparkie deal with cabling issues after the fact.
Condo's/Apartments with Voice/Data/Coax is okayish...I hate augering through a stack of 2x4's just for one drop.
