I re-installed our ESI IVX S-series (Soho?) system and five 48-key handsets.

I desparately need Installer or at least Auto attendant function codes, instruction, help, etc.

The immediate needs are:
Change # rings before Auto-att. picks up.
Transfer incomming call to Auto attendant manually BEFORE answering call?
Can incoming call be transferred to other mailbox manually BEFORE answering call?

Can anyone walk me through, show me, or supply the correct function or instructions on above and/or general Auto-attendant or Installation programming?

Ant information would be gratly appreciated - Thank You,
Howard

Is that the little black box IVX? If so...I have a manual for it and it's VERY easy to program.

I have the manual now, thanks.
When programming DAY ring assignments, I am trying to have AA answer on Ring #. I'm only given the option for an EXT, no MB or ID.
Was using 2 and 4 function categories. I thought 2 was the way to go, but stuck with EXT on Ring 3....
What am I missing here?

ID 1 the main greeting
ID 2 is typically night

Have lines answered by ID # for AA

I discovered the necessity of deleting all existing data from ring assignments following the one to have an ID option.

Probably a good preliminary point of info to verify for future tech-help.

Hi Howard (bigjoke) -

If you need any further detail on the finer points of programming beyond what the manual tells you, let me know. I'd be happy to help.

It sounds like you've found your basic answers, but to elaborate on your other questions, here's my two cents:

You can assign on a Per Line basis what happens on the inbound rings 1, 3, 5 & 9. These can be programmed to ring any number of extensions (or departments) and/or be answered by the Auto Attendant, a Voicemailbox, Informational mailbox, etc.

Additionally, you can assign this setting for different time periods (for instance day or night) which are further defined in the Auto Attendant Day/Night tables.

Keep in mind that if you set the ringing assignment to ring x100 on Rings 1 & 3, and then have the auto attendant ID1 answer on ring 5, you may only have x100 ring 3 times because of the delay caused by inbound caller ID processing between rings 1&2.

If you're using the standard Auto Attendant, and you want it to answer on Ring 1, you would set Ring 1 to ID1.

If you want to transfer a call to a mailbox before answering the call, you would want to use an Informational Mailbox as the target of the inbound ring assigments, becuase the Informational Mailbox has a Call Forward function.

Depending on what you'd actually like to see happen, you may want to explore using the Auto Attendant recording capability to perform some recording playback / transfer / ring function.

If you elaborate further on your requirements, I could tell you some more.

Cheers - Stephen

Hello,

I have a similar problem and was still not able to resolve it from looking at these postings.

We have an IVX S-Class System. I'm trying to figure out how to make the AA answer on the first ring. I know how to call in and administer the system, but ave not figured out how to get into the # of rings feature or what extensions it should dial.

Once I resolve this, I will also need to figure out how to have the AA give the option of dialing by extension, directory lookup, and finally, go to operator. If no one answers, callers should go to the General Mailbox.

To summarize, current set up is:
-Callers dial main line
-Rings about 5 times on 5 stations until someone answers
-If no one answers, AA answers and gives main greeting, asks for an extension or offers callers option to press 8 for directory.
-If nothing is chosen, tells callers to leave a vmail in GMB.

Desired set up should be:
-Callers dial main line. AA should answer immediately and ask for an extension or offer callers option to press 8 for directory.
-OPTION FOR REACHING OPERATOR SHOULD BE THERE. When caller hits 0, or whatever ID, it should ring on 5 stations set up in current set up.
-If no one answers, should tell callers to leave a vmail in GMB.

Any help, free or for a fee, is appreciated.
Thank you,

Roberto Angulo

Not to be rude but are you guys telco guys or IT guys? These systems are really, really easy to program. It's truely all in the manual. The 0 destination will need to goto a dept group to ring multiple phones.

No rudeness detected, just helpful intent.
I only recently acquired the manual. The manual does not (nor should not, as it is not a consumer oriented document) specify that data needs to be cleared from all ring assignments following the ring assigned to ID1 (AA).
Although not a telco (or traditional or certified IT) "guy", my needs and curiosity has directed extensive research on my part to the point where I have actually answered and in some instances corrected "telco guys" Q&A.
