Usually I post questions for my friends to ponder on with ample time to await input from numerous members before implementing actions. Tonight is not the case. I have a full blown RED Alert!

I have a 72E in Chicago with the following cards.
Slot 1 E2-612
Slot 2 E2-612
Slot 3 PRI 12

The goal is to install an IVC Card to support Remote IP Phones.

Earlier today we powered down and Installed the IVC card then when we brought the system back up I was not able to connect Esiaccess via network connection. Bear in mind that I have been connecting with Esiaccess almost daily for a few months now without ever even a blink. When the IVC card is removed Esiaccess is no problem. When it is connected bye bye Esiaccess. Note: This IVC card was once used in this exact system, it may have been in a different slot but same card, same system.

Now here is the scenario: Against my better judgment a guy is on a plane in the AM to Atlanta and New York to distribute and install the IP Phones. I need to bring that IVC card online and darn quick.

What Ya Got?

4+18+18+24+12=76 Which is 4 over the limit!

Going to bed now!!

So are you saying you simply need to "expand" to a 128E, and your problem will go away? Interesting.

How does that have anything to do with ESI-Access no longer being able to connect? Did the overage kill the "port" for the modem?

Could the IVC and NSP have been programmed with the same address?
Posted By: grider Re: 72E Emergency - 09/06/07 10:46 PM
Well the IVC had not yet been programmed. That would have been the next step but I couldn't connect.

5Y, The connection was always network, not modem so I don't think that was the problem.

If my math is correct replacing one of the 612 cards with a D12 should free up the port space.

Anyone have one?

Hit up Matt (breeze). He might.

John:

Call me if you need a card, I probably have one that can be redlabeled to you. I'll be in the office by 8:30 am.

In your math in the first post, where did the 4 come from? all I get is 18+18+24+12?

I have a 2 techs going to Chicago .onday to upgrade a hospital pbx.

One of them maybe able to help you out depending on their workload.

Perhaps another reseller up there?

I want to say thanks to everyone that jumped in on this. The current status of this location has been resolved by removing one of the 612 cards in order to free up 18 ports which would allow for the IVC card to have elbow room. Now for the next issue. We can just keep it in this thread.

With all needed cards in place and system powered up I am able to connect using esiaccess via network connection as usual however, when the IVC card is connected to the network I can't connect to make the nessessary programming changes. It is a catch22 thing. Apparently I need to make some programming changes first then connect the IVC card.

This subject is no longer an emergency, just run of the mill troubleshooting now.

Thanks again friends :thumb:

Grider I had what sound like the same problem on a 72e , just this certain one. I had to program all the IP programs through the phone.I have done other 72e's with IVC cards and no problem, I think it was a software problem.

(Are you saying that when you connect the IVC to the network that the NSP stops working??)

can you get into programing through the serial port??

Bingo, FYI the system is running 2.7.1 if that helps!

Did you look at the NSP's IP address through the phone to see if is still the same?

what about connecting to the serial port?
Posted By: grider Re: 72E Emergency - 09/07/07 07:51 PM
I'm in Florida and the System is in Chicago so not able to test serial port connection.

You could send out one of those serial port extenders (serial via TCP/IP). Seems like an odd thing to do, but it might save having to send someone onsite.

Upgrade it to 2.8.5. I think its .5 we had the same problem and that solved it.
