hi folks!
First let me thank you guys for helping oobie out with the door opener issue we ran into for a recent customer. I can't figure out why ESI tech support never mentioned the diode fix but that is why this site is so great!

Anyway, I have another question that I feel has not been addressed satisfactorily when we call support....
We have a comm-server 100 in-house and are esi-linked to two other sites. Some of our staff had been complaining that the office-to-office calls (using the esi-link) were not loud enough even when the phone volume was turned up all the way (even if using the handset). The solution was for one of our telecom techs to turn up the volume settings on our ESI. This worked OK for the Esi-link calls...they are better, but now we have to turn down our volume on our phones when using a local CO line or it blows you out of your chair (especially if you use speakerphone). So we turn it way down for CO calls but then we can't hear an internal caller that is doing a voice announce on intercom or our voice mail messages are too soft, so we end up playing with the volume controls on every call....very frustrating to say the least!

According to the techs ESI says that there is no way to fix this....I'm wondering if any of you guys have run into this (or something similar) and found a way to make it better at least??

We seem to get a lot of complaints from customers about the volume as well...especially speakerphone volume.

I am not a tech so I don't know what program we used to do the adjustments but I'm sure oobie will jump in here....

Thanks,
Tim

You might try to lower the line receive volume F23.
What type of circuit are you using to connect the sites?
What codec are you using on ESI Link? If you're not using G.726, you should- the perceived volume iwill be noticeably better.

Tech support can adjust the handsfree microphone volume, if being heard is the problem on your speakerphones.
Guys....sorry I was expecting oobie to jump in here with some info on our current setup...guess he must actually be working for a change wink

Anyway, we are using cable modem on our end but I'm not sure what the other two sites are using...oobie would know that....
I am also not sure if we are using G.726 or not but I know that some of these same volume differences are showing up at customer sites that are only using pots lines and no VoIP at all. Just seems like the techs have to turn up the CO volume to satisfy the customer but then the intercom is too low due to the volume manually being turned down due to loud CO volume....I don't know it's a little bit frustrating to me. But hey....I'm just a salesman so what do I know?! :bang:
