We have a ESI-600 IP system with 90 60-button IP phones. Randomly a phone will display the message "COM LINK LOST - Reconnecting". We can unplug the network cable and the phone will re-connect. One phone has been a real problem child and has done this 6 or 7 times. The desk had a second network drop so we put the phone on the second drop and left the PC on the first drop. It was OK for about a week and then happened again. We replaced the desktop phone and again it was OK for about a week and then happened again. We ran a brand new CAT 6 network drop to the phone and it was OK for about 9 days then did it again yesterday. We're out of idaes. Any suggestions?

Change out the network switch.

Managed or un-managed switch? With 90 IP phones they should be on their own VLAN to limit the broadcast domain.

We have 5 Cisco 2960 POE switches configured to prioritize voice using VLAN 2. This problem is happening on 2 different switches. Has anyone used the QoS and VLan settings for the IVC cards in F822?

There's not much to it. Check the QoS box and change the VLAN number. Packets will then be 802.1Q tagged.

The trouble is only 2 of the 5 switches? I'd be looking at the VLAN settings and trunking on those switches? On the LAN, local IP phones will come up in layer 2 and work. They maybe re-setting when the get an IP address and fail in layer 3.
Have you done a "sh int fa" command in the switches to see if you are seeing any errors?

Does the trouble follow the phone itself if you move it to another desk elsewhere and re-provision it as w new extension number?

The problem does not follow the handset when the handset is replaced and placed at another desk. I have gone into F822 and checked the QoS box to use Vlan 2 for our first IVC card. We have 6 IVC cards so I'm taking it slow. All phones are set up as Local IP type.

I had some squirrely things happen with remote IP phones all because the POE part of the switch couldn't supply enough current for all attached phones. To rule out the switch, try supplying the phone with a POE adapter and see if that settles the problem. Remember, you will have to not connect the phone with a POE port on the switch if using a local POE adapter. You can, temporarily, connect an eight port switch to the phone, just to see if the problem resolves.
