Someone please tell me how to fix this phone extension that no longer has a phone and it keeps calling the other extensions with a loud noise for a few seconds and hangs up everyday! Our phone system is the ESI IVX 128 Series. Thank you!

Do you know what extension the "Ghost" is calling from? ...anything in the display?
Posted By: Vsandlin Re: Ghost extension - 01/04/19 01:21 PM
X106 X

It may have call forwarding setup. It might be some sort of message notification.

...and this part remains?

When you intercom call the extension what verbiage does the display say? Is it perhaps in DND?

Display only shows date/time and there is a busy signal.

For the key in question, what is in the display after pressing PROG/HELP, 0, 3 and then the lit key?
Posted By: Vsandlin Re: Ghost extension - 01/07/19 07:59 PM
X106 X
that's it

The LEDs associated with the programmable and fixed keys aid in determining the status of their
function. In general, green indicates a function associated with your phone, while red indicates an
occurrence at another station. A solid lamp indicates in use, blinking means an action is required
such as ringing or holding and a fast blink means immediate action. As an example, a blinking red
key is a call ringing at another station; blinking green signifies ringing at your station.

What need do you have to display X106 on any keyset if it does not exist?

The red light for the ghost extension is always constant and red. It might be the phone jack?

so. Typically on ANY ESI system...if a Digital phone is not plugged in and you attempt to call it from another phone , you
will hear " you have dialed an invalid extension " and then get intercom dialtone back.

I Think what he really meant was " program/help , 2, then the key that is lit " then what is in the display

Are you asking how to delete programming on a button?
Posted By: Vsandlin Re: Ghost extension - 01/10/19 02:23 PM
Well can we delete this extension in the program system since there is not a phone attached to this extension? And could it be the jack or phone line that is the problem?

You can't delete the extension. It absolutely could be the jack or cable to the phone. You could remove the cross connect wire from the cable that connects that extension and that would rule out the cabling and jack. If X106 doesn't have a voice mail message there is nothing that would cause it to originate a call or cause a sound.

Just remove the cross connect wire on the 66 block that the amphenol connected to the system is terminated on.

The guy is an insurance specialist.

There is only so much you can do without spending some money. I think it's time to call in someone who knows ESI or at least phone systems.
