iPayment Merchant Services Scam - 02/24/14 07:33 PM
I received a cold call on Friday from a company called iPayment. The smooth talking salesman on the phone (Marcus - turns out he's a VP there) was adamant that he wan't trying to sell me anything. I turned him away despite his efforts as we are setup with a very reputable merchant account for our online payments.
He called back three times attempting to get someone else on the phone and his persistence led me to google the company and learn more.
Well I found a litany of complaints on multiple complaint forums, as well as the BBB sites.
They apparently target small businesses and for various reasons "hold" money without reason or charge undisclosed fees.
So, if you have any plans of using a merchant/payment processor, avoid this one at all costs:
