Here is a pic. I need to know what type of system this is and basic cabinet layout. Thanks [Linked Image from i201.photobucket.com]
This is a single tower ADIX system. The very bottom of the tower houses the power supply. The next cabinet up will have a processor and highway card, then you start filling the thing up with trunk and station cards in the shelves above.

Wow, that's an oldie...
You have an ADIX (Advanced Digital Information Exchange) system. Model = IX-200. Max ports = 224. Each card slot provides 8 ports. This system was introduced in 1990. It can accommodate digital station cards (IX-8PSUB), analog trunk cards (IX-LGTK), T1 (IX-DTIT1), and ISDN PRI (IX-ICOTP). That diskette taped to the side of the system is probably the backup database file. Depending on the CPU version, it's probably a DOS program.
The good news is - it can be upgraded to the latest Iwatsu platform (ECS) and you can use all your digital phones and interface cards. (You'll have to lose the cabinets and power supply).

You wouldn't have to lose any cabinets, you would just add an ECS cabinet, pull the old processor out of the 450 and replace it with a HWY card. Then there's a cable that connects the ECS to the HWY card in the old 450. Then you've added a new brain with the latest software, but you didn't have to move any cards. Plus you've got room for more cards in the ECS cabinet.

Iwatsu Tech
You are correct. However, I would not recommend staying with the old IX-200 equipment due to lack of parts. If they lose the 200 power supply or an MBIF - they're screwed
I love the orange 3-1/2 floppy! I suppose it would have been even older if it was a 5"or 12" SS from A TRS-80 II
Actually, depending on age, you need to replace the backplane on the first shelf to swap to the new highway card. The original few releases of that old unit has a seperate highway and CPU card, unless someone already upgraded that. That is not as hard as it sounds, though. If I recall, you pull out all the cards in the first shelf, remove 6 or 8 screws, pop out the old backplane (slight bending necessary) pop in the new one, then replace all the cards, except using the new highway card tied to a new ECS cabinet. The software upgrade is even easier. One of the nice things about Iwatsu is it is simple to upgrade even the oldest ADIX to the current O.S.
