We have an Iwatsu phone system and use the VMI Editor to manipulate voicemail boxes. The box that had the software loaded crashed and we are trying to set it up on a new box. The box that crashed was WinXp and we are going to a Win7 machine. We are not able to establish a connection to the phone system now. We are using the same profile from before and have even tried to create a new profile, but it fails to connect. I heard someplace that you had to change some registry setting for the network card's MTU settings, but not sure if this is the case. A tech in a remote location has a Win7 laptop and is running this successfully without error? Please Help.

Most of the time, the problem stems from the type of RS232 connector the pc uses. Do you have a 9-pin serial port, or are you using a USB adapter? If using the adapter, do you have any drivers installed for it? Are you trying to connect to the proper COM port? Are you using the FAX065 9 pin adapter, the Iwatsu proprietary connector, or a common 9 pin serial connector? I use a WinXP and a Win7 laptop for programming, and don't have any trouble with either of them, and made no changes to registries or default COM settings. That said, the VMI programmer is a little squirrely at times, so keep plugging away...
