A customer says 'Alert Code 158' is displaying on a site's 2 attendant consoles. They don't use them (I do have a site that still uses 3) but asked what the code means. I couldn't find anything so far. Any ideas what it could mean? The system reloaded several months ago due to a power failure, maybe it's related to that?

It's probably been there a while and was recently noticed.

Never seen an error like that. Does FEAT + # + 7 clear it? Is there an error showing on the switch power supply?

If alarm reporting is set to all in programming, it may be something related to SMDR or some totally goofy setting.

I will see if there's anything related in the error log. I'm trying to find an attendant console guide/manual - no luck yet.

Thanks - I'll see if the customer will want to attempt to clear the alarm.

Spoke to the customer and he sent some screen shots - come to find out it's just a Gen 3 phone displaying:

CALL #158
ALERT

(wish I knew how to insert a photo here) Looked in their db, trunk 158 is a loop start trunk port with the name "ALERT". The customer recalls an old intercom and sent me a photo, the door intercom in question goes to electronics elsewhere as it's just a speaker connected to a transformer and a SPST pushbutton for signalling. I'm going to have him use the same procedure to clear a 911 call as there is a 911 Clear key on the phone. I thought it was one of those big old attendant consoles which one of my customers is still using.

Thanks for coming back with this. I was starting to get bothered by this. I HATE not having an answer sometimes!

You're welcome and I hear ya. Many times the information presented to me is inaccurate or needs clarification which is why I like talking directly to to the customer. It appears to be a paging system that provides a trunk to the PBX, possibly with a console somewhere that appears similar to a digital multi line phone. In another school system we have the console provides a trunk which is fed to the PBX via an RJ-11 jack in the office.
