I am trying to program a "hotline" into our phone system. We have an IDS-84 running software version 8.2.4 with Infostar/DVX. The Infostar is acting as auto attendant and directing calls using CCR.

I have one line that does NOT ring to the Infostar. This line is our "hotline" that the owner of the company can call into to get a live person. He'd like this line to ring on four separate stations.

These four stations are programmed for VMS forwarding with both "busy" and "no answer" conditions going to VMS after 10 seconds. Right now, the hotline goes to VMS after 10 seconds if no one answers. I would like this line ONLY to just ring until someone picks up or hangs up and not get forwarded to VMS.

Any ideas on how to achieve this?

Do you have any spare sli ports ? Or do you have a phone that you could ring the line to that doesn't have any forwarding? You could ring it to a hunt group but that will only ring 1 phone at a time.If you have a spare sli port or a phone that you could ring the line to that isn't forwarded then you can use ringing group pickup to do it.

Program line to ring to a Extension that does not have voicemail (break room, phone room phone)or a spare analoge extension. Program that line to ring this extension, then put this extension in a pickup group (example pickup group 6), then goto all the extensions you want to ring for that line and assign a key with that pickup group (Example key should be 906 with no subcode that will make it ring right away).

Good Luck!!

Could I program it to ring on a DSS extension number?

For example, the operator's DSS (extension 3110) is tied to her extension (extension 3010). Can I program the line to ring to 3110?

Never tried it. Try it and let us know if it works. It will not hurt anything to try it.

Good Luck!!

The screen changes on a DSS station so that you can't put it in a pickup group.

I ended up using the "spare phone" ploy and it's working great.

What's an SLI port? I don't think I have one of those.

SLI is a single line port (analoge extension). I did not think that a DSS extrension would work, but did not have one to try myself.

Glad you got it working!
