I am in the process of installing an old and used IDS 432 system. I didn't receive all of the parts needed to make a 2-cabinet system, so for now, it's a 228-port system. I connected a programming terminal, installed a few cards, and powered it up. The main menu shows the following options...

Options: 120 ACD CID TIME

The documentation I have indicates that the 120 means the system has 120 ports enabled in software. The system actually appears to allow me to use the first 132 ports, but ignores anything I do in slots above port 132. I need more than 132 ports. What needs to happen to get this option changed? Also, are the software options stored in the ACPU card? Thanks, in advance, for any assistance provided.

It is a downloaded option on the ACPU. You can try contacting AABLE COMMUNICATIONS. They can activate features on the ACPU for a FEE.

Have you tried the other ACPU?

Good Luck!!

Thanks for the reply, JJ. No, I haven't tried the other ACPU yet. I will do that tomorrow. I assumed that the two ACPU's would have the same options and enabled ports in their memory (since this was all part of a single system previously). Since I'm new to Executone systems, I probably shouldn't assume that much.

Do you know why I appear to have access to 132 ports when the 120 is supposed to mean that only 120 ports are enabled?

The 120 option actually gives you the first 9 slots in the cabinet.

I checked the second ACPU card, and it has the same options turned on as the first one. Does this mean I would have the first 9 slots in EACH cabinet available to use? I would try it, but I'm missing a fiber optic cable. Thanks.

NO, they will be stand-alone cabinets. You cannot connect cabinets without the 432 option.
