I have an IDS that I have inherited and have not worked on one of these. It has 5 operators terminals, 4 work great the 5th work sporatically. It will work fine one time the next will have low volume, I have change the base module 3 times and the handset and curly cord twice (the curly cord was from a known good terminal) still no luck. Help this one is killing me.

Have you tried moving it to a different port? Or swaping that unit with a known good unit? It sounds like it could be a wiring/jack issue to me. The first step is to rule out the unit itself as the source of the problem. Then work back to the system. If you have another non-terminal extension in the area, try swapping jacks and wiring at the block. Last try moving it to a different station port.
My best guess is that you have bad wiring or a bad station port.

I have had a number of my ports go bad and that is the most prominent symptom. Operator can't hear very well or not at all.

In that situation I had a number of extra ports and just switched them.
