I have an IDS 228 and I want to connect it to another pbx system, but am having trouble understanging the programming of tie lines. I only need a couple of lines to connect. I have two CO cards available as well as a handful of analog station ports. Our phone system vendor is almost non-existant in this area. I pretty much do all the phone system maintenance including moves/add/changes and ACD Programming. I have the executone manuals, but still am having trouble. Can someone point me in the right direction.

You need to have tie line cards on both switchs, and setup transparent intercom dialing.

T-1 cards will work also

ok, now I thinking that Tie Lines is not what I want, maybe I should be more clear about what I want to do. I would like to integrate together our IDS 228 system and a Asterisk open source VOIP PBX. The voip pbx has a fxs port and a fxo port. I would like to be able to dial and extension # from the IDS 228 and have it ring and extension on the voip pbx, and vice versa. I should think this should be able to be done with a combination of SLI lines and CO lines. Making it work on the VOIP is easy and I have that figured out. What I don't understand how to do if configure a dial plan on the IDS 228. Any suggestions. How do I program in the IDS, calls to extension XXXX go to the voip pbx. And should I send them out the SLI or the CO line? I would also like to be able to do this from ACD as well if possible.

Thanks,

Matt

I am doing the same thing and basically you need a fxs and fxo on the astricks and a LS co line on the IDS and SL station port you can also use two LS CO lines. if you want it to take DTMF and send the Call to the correct phone you will need a DID card for the IDS and set your Astricks to send the digits for the extension you want to dial.
