Does anyone know how SIP based IP-PBX works.If so,plz help me with this.thanks

Check out Asterisk.org, I am currently working on a IP PBX. The Asterisk Software is Open Source and Free however I am finiding it hard to setup but I am a Windows guy just learning linux.

What are you trying to do with Asterisk/VoIP?

You will find it a never ending pit. If you have alot of time and you phones aren't mission critical Asterisk is pretty neat to play with.
