difserv/TOS over an E-10 & VLAN tagging - 09/07/05 10:02 PM
I have a site that has 2 Mitel 200ICP's networked together though a E-10.using IP trunking
They are using HP 2626 procurve POE layer 2 switches on both ends.
Problem is they don't have TOS/difserv on the E-10. Every once in a while they get some jitter and poor voice quality through the IP trunks on the E-10.
I told them they need a hp7100 series Routers to support TOS on both ends of the E-10 then goto the switches.
To accomplish this they would have to:
1. setup the phones on a separate VLAN from the DATA first Right.
VLAN 1 = DATA
VLAN 2 = VOICE
2. Setup the Router so that vlan 2 somehow corosponds to a different TOS, higher than the vlan 1 TOS
so in theory VLAN 2 will have priority over VLAN 1.
Therefore eleviating any jitter or poor voice quality.
The E-10 won't strip any of the TOS will it?
