Where do you guys get your aerial(with messager) and direct burial cable from? (cat 3 and cat 5)(25pr up to 100pr)

The people we currently use are high on price and don't keep much stock.

Thanks,

We're lucky to have a group locally that keeps most everything from station wire to 100 pair. They do ship stuff and have locations throughout the South East. Norfolk Wire and Cable.

Can't see that there would be much need for cat5 outside. We usually deal with Anixter then Clifford. Both have large stocks and will cut to order.

Cat5E is by far only purchased on e-bay. It is all over the place, just enter "direct burial" and you will find plenty of it, but only four pair. It is cheap there.

We use Sprint North Supply for all of our other OSP purchases (www.sprintnorthsupply.com) and they always have it here in a few days. Prices and in-stock availability are better there than anywhere else I have found.

How come there's always enough time to go back and fix it a second time?

MD,

The buried cable is niether Cat 3 or Cat 5, ask for PE 89. That is jelly filled for direct burial.

There are various numbers for the ariel, depending on what size, both strand and pair count.

You can buy Cat 5 for outside use but I've never seen it over four pair.

Any major supplier has both, Sprint of course has it for their local service companies so they have lots to offer. Graybar, Annixter, even some local electrical supply houses. Check around.
Rexell did have some of both available.

Make sure the supplier for the ariel has the correct hardware to hang it, ground it, and guy it.

Good Luck.

Yeah, KLD that's why we standardized with Sprint because they actually stock all components required for pole and line work. Just about anybody stocks cable, but without the proper hardware to install it, well you know what happens.
