My PSET Tester died does anyone know where I can purchase a replacement? I checked ebay and greenlee, but no luck since it is a discontinued item. Does anyone know of any other site to go to purchase an pset analog to digital tester? TY

Hmmm. Worked for me yesterday but doesn't now. Betcha it's discontinued/special order and they took down the page when they saw the hits this forum generated. All you need to know is that it was over $500 and will do what that butt set will do.

Edit: Note that it will not work with ISDN and we think that's what this is.

Nahh, they just changed it. Doesn't even come up when you click the "test tools" product category of which your link is supposed to be listed under. How did you find it Jeff? Did you remember the model number? It almost seems like they don't want to sell them, and I would want a lot more information before I shelled out $515.00. Like it seems that all PSETs weren't the same. Dave used that SBI-145 Butt set which specifically says not for ISDN. But I think Sam has confirmed that the OP has ISDN PSETS in New York City.

Good luck. This is like trying to find parts for an 8 track tape deck. bash

Hal -

PSets were NOT the same. There were 4 different varieties that I knew of - AT&T, Northern, Fujitsu and.....I can't remember the 4th (I sound like Rick Perry). We got them at the end of my time on the job when we could no longer get AT&T 20 button models.

But while the new ones (whatever they were) were compatible with AT&T, Northern Tel wasn't (and vice versa). Fujitsu claimed compatibility - but I never had a chance to test it out.

ISDN was a stop-gap technology (like DSL), just designed to hold the fort until something better came along.

It's old and dead and we should all be glad. It was a pain in the ass.

But it apparently lives on for someone who doesn't realize the hurt stops when you quit banging your head against the wall.

Duhhh! This whole PSET thing is giving me such a headache that I didn't even realize that both links were for the same product/different source.

Just a thought couldn't you make up a PSET test jack and connect it to the DMarc and plug a known good PSET directly there? If your responsibility ends at the Dmarc why invest in the tester, unless your employer is going to pay for it? Sometimes you have to have a vendor meet to get things accomplished and have a Verizon supervisor come out with the tech.

We used the tester at the demarc (which originally did not have a power supply) . You plugged it in dialed a bunch of digits and could pull dial tone - if the SLC was working. If you couldn't we called the CO. At some point we put in a power supply and a test jack. Much easier.
