I really don't do too much with paging but a potential customer is asking for a paging system that integrates with a phone system. This is a high class Japanese Massage place.
There are 4 private outside sauna areas(4 zones) all of which need their own talkback speakers. The speakers are to be waterproof and definately not horns. The speakers need to be either 'in-wall' or some sort of box type of speaker. This needs to be integrated with the phone system(nec dsx40).

I need help figuring out what equipment would be suggested and what type of cabling to each zone would be needed. Would it need to be cat 5 or speaker cabling. What make model zone controller and speakers would you use.

thanks,
matt

Matt:

Put one of THESE on a CO line port from the system.

Then, choose from the following speakers:

FLUSH MOUNT

SURFACE MOUNT

NOTE: Disregard the call button on the speakers unless you want to use them. One pair of "CAT Anything" is required to each speaker and power is supplied by the page control unit, so these items are all you will need.

Ed, the v-2006AHF looks to be what I would need. If there isn't any available co ports can I just use the page port on the system?
Also, I was looking at valcoms site and came across the v-1090 with the flush mount enclosure. Do you think that would work with the same way as far as the Cat.3/5 cabling?
Thanks.

Those horns and enclosures would work fine, but they are very expensive. The beauty of Valcom equipment is that it will work on just about any kind of wire, so that won't be an issue. As for using the page port on the KSU, you could feed that into the background music input and have one-way paging to all speakers, but you would need a CO line to be able to dial-select the speaker and have talkback.

Ok, I just got the plans of the outside hot tubs. I've never seen anything like it. These 4 tub areas are spread out within a japanese type outside garden.
I talked to the owner today and he said that the talkback Flexhorn(v-1090) was too industrial. I'm trying to get him to just get the oneway speakers but I'm not sure what to offer. So again I need a 4-6 zone page controller that can page zones individually and some sort of designer speakers. I think I can use the Valcom V-2006, but I need help with the outdoor oneway speakers.

What about some thing like these rock speakers for outside. That is if he goes for the one way speakers

Matt:

What about the V1019B pendant speakers that are available in black, white, gray or even custom colors?

You can use the V1019A version which is one-way and they can be powered directly from the V2006. At least with one-way, the volume per speaker can be adjusted whereas talkback is one level for the whole system.

There is also the V1046 wall mount unit available in black, white, brown, gray or custom colors.

They say that you can only put two talkback speakers per zone, but I've cheated that limitation before.

Thank for the responses.
Anthony, what zone controller can I use that would hook up to a co port?

Ed, Are they outdoor speakers?

Matt,
I am no paging pro by any means but it looks like this may work. It might be worth giving Bogen a call just to see what they offer, they seem to have some nice products

Matt, the V1019 speakers are weather resistant. I wouldn't put them inside of a car wash, but regular exposure to weather won't affect them. They can hang by a chain or close to the ceiling. The specs for them are here:

V1019 Series

The wall mounted V1046 speakers aren't rated for true outdoor use (out in the open) but if they are located in a covered area, even outdoors, they will be fine. I know that you had mentioned the desire for something flush-mounted, but these are fairly low-profile:
