I’m just wondering if anybody has had any experience with the A series Bogen paging speakers for outdoors

I’m working at a school and they wanted to add some additional outside paging horns and they were asking if they had a better speaker than the typical Paging horn

Thanks

I replaced a set of the A6T horns at a school in the gym sound is much better then the A2TS.
You can also try JBL out door much more money.

@teldata1, can you elaborate on what they mean by "better"?

Good question tim10

I guess better than a Paging horn

They originally requested adding paging horns to different sides of the buildings it’s three separate buildings

This was more for a lock down scenario maybe hitting parking lots they use a gym across the across the way

They have some extra money that they need to spend I guess

They like to buy the best

I’m more concerned about going over the wattage As we continue to add speakers to the systems periodically

I think the A6T has a 8 watt tap on it

@teldata1, again I will ask, what does "better" mean? Better looking? Better frequency response? Better coverage area? Better durability?
You should have an impedance meter and take a system load reading to verify that you won't go over the system's power capacity. Most schools use a 25V system, which means even if you tap that A6T at 8 watts, you're only going to be getting 1W out of it. That's not nearly enough, and even on 70V I would not recommend A6T for an outdoor paging speaker on a school. If they want to hit parking lots and a gym, a paging horn is, without a doubt, the best bet. Of course, the location of those horns and their ability to transmit their sound over the area you need unobstructed is paramount.

They currently just have one zone in each building with one amplifier a 70 V system 240 watt TOA in (2) of the buildings and I think 120W in the other building

I’m thinking that the only reason he mentioned better was because they had extra money to put towards this ,obviously they want everything about it to be better especially coverage I would think be number one

I’m gonna to go with the A6T.

The current paging system has been in there for 15 years without a problem I think they are getting some grant money for lock down emergency scenarios

I think I’ll be OK with the wattage because I’ll just go around and lower some of the wattage on some of the existing speakers that are inside the building

I may just get one to try it out to see how it compares to the Paging horn

It’s not your typical school it’s basically an office park that got converted into a charter school they’re growing they’re gonna be putting a new building in soon so there’s gonna be a lot of changes down the road

Thanks
