Hello 1A2ers,

I saw this phone in a James Bond movie earlier this week and was curious to find out what kind of system it ran on. It looks like an NEC Patrician phone, but I was curious to see what you all thought. This particular scene where the phone can be seen was at an office in Tokyo.

"You only live twice" 1967

Phone is probably an Iwatsu key set delivered through Nippon Telephone and Telegraph.

Doesn't look like the Iwatsu Omega I phones I worked on, but that was in 1975. Looks sort of like the Shimcom phones, but not quite. I worked on those a few years earlier.

Netflix carried a boatload of Bond flicks last month.
RBF Dave, How the heck did you come up with the movie so quickly?

Biggest Bond fan ever...have every book and movie. First gun I ever bought was a Walther PPK. smile

Sam...I saw a few pre Omega series key sets. They were rare. Even before the NEC Patrician series.

Here's another phone I don't recognize... The one Harrison Ford is using... It looks like a mix of a membrane Merlin phone and an AT&T Spirit. Is it some kind of Autovon phone? This movie (Clear and Present Danger) is from 1993.

Here's a closer shot of it. Definitely looks AT&T by the button lettering...

Autovon phones had a 16 button keypad (one additional vertical row - Flash, Flash Override, Immediate and Priority). I really can't see the keypad well enough to tell, but it doesn't look like any autovon set I ever saw.

Not that I saw all that many....
