Good day. I have an issue with the above two mentioned single line Western Electric telephone sets which I think is probably an easy one to resolve. The problem is I have an idea what it is but I am hoping that someone on these forms has some substantial knowledge of Western Electric single line phones. Would be grateful for any assistance. Many thanks

Yes. As I indicated I have both a 2500 DMG and they 2500 DM. I order these from eBay. As we all know eBay is what-you-see-is-what-you-get so there's there was a shot that they'll be problems. The DMG works just fine I can make calls off at when I Chris the buttons on the touch tone dial it breaks the dogs home and I'm able to make calls. When I plug in the 2500 DM and actually one of these is a 2515 BM, I hear dial tone but when I push the buttons on the touch tone nothing happens the dial tone is not broken. And kind of this many years ago and if I'm not mistaken it's a fairly simple fix. I am just drawing a blank as far as what's causing the problem. I only have one Jack in the house currently which was wired when I got here. I am going to be adding additional Jack's. So I don't know if the problem is with how the jack is wired or if it's something on the phones. I greatly appreciate any and all information advice and assistance that you could forward to me on this matter. Many thanks.

Please proof read you post or get rid of your cell phone. A lot of what you say makes no sense. It's not very nice of Chris to break your dog's home.

Open up the phone, and reverse the Green and Red wires on the incoming line. If the Touch Tone dial works at this point, either keep them that way, or purchase a "bridge rectifier" at the local Radio Shack (yeah, they're all gone now) or online. You can wire it into the phone so that no matter the polarity incoming on the line, the TT pad will always work.

If reversing the polarity doesn't work, you have a little more work to do on the pad itself, but start there.
2515BM or 2514BM?

Check polarity.

Check wiring on dial pad.

Swap out dial pad,
.........if [okay]:
.........then [dial pad bad].
.........else [check wiring].
end if

2514B/2514BM Wiring

They even have the polarity guards on ebay, but they're pricier than the bridge rectifier mentioned above by Touch Tone Tommy and do the same thing.
