Looks like consolidation is happening here in Canada with the CLEC's. If this goes through there will be 3 of the old CLEC's left in Canada Telus on the west coast, Sask Tel in western Canada, and Bell Canada (BCE) for everything from Manitoba East. As Sask Tel is Govt Owned who knows if Bell or Telus will try and buy it out

Its been a long day @ work and I made a small mistake above.

All the companies above are not Clec's but ILEC's in Canada. MTS was created over 100 years ago by the province of Manitoba due to poor service from Bell Canada. In 1996 the govt privatized it and now 20 years later Bell could be getting it back.

Bell's service has definitely NOT improved in the past 20 years.....
With MTS laying off staff too over the last few years, there may be no difference as a customer. The interesting thing is the selling of 1/3 of the cell customer base to Telus.
