We have a two cabinet Axxess 11.004 that went down earlier today. Turned out one of the power supplies was bad. Went out & replaced a 9 amp with the same. All the PS LED's were on and the system was back online...except for...the voicemail.

Entire system is about 7 years old. VM resides on a separate PC but can't remember the name. APDEV is running on the PC.

Although I could previously remote in (VPN into customers network & then use Session Manager), I can no longer successfully get into the switch and voicemail shows "voicemail unavailable" when calling from a keyset. When trying to connect with Session Manager, I get up to "ASAI connected, loading database" and it just hangs there for 5, 10 or 15 minutes until a failure message.

Using the PC / Voicemail and Session Manager I get to the same point as I do when trying to remote in on the VPN.

Again, the only thing changed was the power supply...and call processing is working fine. FYI, system has two nodes. We've done the rebooting the switch as well as the voicemail.

Thanks
Thinking IP connection. Maybe it got knocked loose or for some reason the address changed?? Try a cross over cable to the CPC from your PC and see if you can connect. (be sure you set your PC to an address on the subnet. If that fails set your PC to 192.168.201.XXX /24 with .1 as the gateway and try to connect to 192.168.201.202 (default address of the CPC) If you are successful with the address of your subnet. Try replacing patch cords and switch ports.

If Randy’s suggestion doesn’t work, make sure the VM server is actually running. Could have been a power surge that took out the PBX power supply and the VM server.
If the vpu is pulling dhcp then the ip address needs to be set in the avdap. click start - programs - VPU - Avdap config utility. It should have the ip address of the pc. if not then type it in , then click file and then save. if you are using Ip to connect to the vm and dont do this it will not work . doesnt matter if you manually change the ip of the pc or it pulls one from dhcp.
UPDATE: VM is connected to CPC via serial cable with no network cable. VM is running. Using VM PC and Manager trying to connect to CPC gives a result of "ASAI connected - Database Loading"....and then eventually "Database Connection Failed".

So - voicemail still says "Voicemail Unavailable" when you call it. Can't connect via Session Manager whether from the VM PC, remotely via IP or dial in modem access.

So two separate issues - can't connect to the switch via Session Manager and voicemail isn't working. Any thoughts or ideas appreciated.

Thanks
Do you have access to the VM server w\ a keyboard and monitor?
SUPERFONEGUY: Yes - when onsite I do.
OK, lets get into that thing and see what avdapmon says is happening.
if you are using the serial ports for vpu connection. Then try moving the cable to another rs-232 port on the CPC . There are times the ports lock up and you have to physically unplug them instead of just rebooting the hardware.
