Version 9.1 Voice mail server.
Our voice mail server was making a very unpleasant sound this afternoon. It sounded very much like a car alarm going off. Our power light was on, and our Harddrive light. We did a reboot with no results. As soon as the power was restored, the alarm came back on.
Can anyone tell us what this alarm means?

Sounds like a DupliDisk controller alarm. Check the lights on the front of the server if there is in fact a Duplidisk bay mounted controller. Those are pretty lame RAID type controllers that use standard IDE HDDs connected to a proprietary controller in front of the IDE channel on the mother board. They flame out alot.

We actually got an answer from Inter-Tel on this one.
The alarm was a microsoft alarm on the computer, letting the user know the processor is overheating.
The solution is to open the door and clean the filter. Leave the door open until the alarm stops.
