VOIP Lines for backup to PRI? - 09/10/07 01:24 PM
I have recently knocked off my backup phone lines as I had them with the same provider as a T1 that i was switching to a Fiber Provider. I ran reports and saw that we never used them as overflow and my PRI never goes down so i figured why pay 240 a month for lines i don't use. Right?
Now i feel like i'm flying w/o a safety net, so i was wondering if anyone has implemented, or could comment on how to implement, VOIP backup lines from a provider such as Vonage or others. I've got the old 40 Pin that used to connect to the backup line channel bank, anyone know of a VOIP appliance i could get to hook in to that?
Or any other ideas?
Since I have 2 ISPs, both which are different then the PRI provider i figure the odds of the PRI going out and both ISPs are pretty small, so if i could get 6 or 12 VOIP trunks for 50 or 100 a month that is worth it to me since they will rarley be used but will be there if necessary.
Any thoughts are apprecaited.
Thanks!
Andy
