Trying to find a way to save some money and improve service. We currently have a Axxess 8.2 with 6 POTS lines and a fax line. The cabinet has a LSC, IPRC but no T1 card. We're paying over $400 per month for the 7 lines.

A PRI would save a little money but provide way more lines then needed and we don't need the data. Would SIP trunks be a good way of going? If so can the Axxess use SIP trunks with some updates and or cards?

Thank you in advance for any ideas.

A PRI won't provide data unless it's an Integrated Access or Flex circuit. On it's own you'll get 23 channels.

Plus, Axxess can't directly interface with SIP trunks. There is a SIP gateway but that only takes your existing POTS lines and SIPifies them for transport over an IP link. It's not what you're looking for.

If you don't have the PRI card now, then you're probably better off finding a Flex-type circuit which comes in digital and then channelizes individual trunks out as loop start lines. You can request as many trunks as needed (7 in your case) It's usually cheaper than POTS lines.
