I have Inter-Tel phone system Program version 7.006 and system version 7.005. My boss wants me to setup and help get phone monitoring setup. I was wondering if there is away for them to just dial in and listen? Any help would be a HUGE help.
Current versions allow the monitoring you want. I'm not familiar with V7, but see if it is the same. Monitoring can only be done in this method if the person being monitored is logged into a Hunt Group. The person monitoring must be a Supervisor of the Hunt Group.
Open DB Programming. Go to System\Devices & Features\Hunt Groups. Open the Hunt Group. The person being monitored must be an Agent. The person monitoring must be a Supervisor.
Monitoring is possible on v.7, although your HG member needs to be a Member, not necessarily an Agent (UCD vs. ACD). Once you've set up the monitoring HG as described, the extension listed as 'supervisor' can dial [code removed by moderator] to initiate monitoring. Keep in mind that you'll want to take a look at System Flags for UCD/ACD Station -Monitor Indications - if this is checked NO, then monitoring will be silent, if YES monitoring will have a tick tone that all parties will hear.
Andrea: Please don't be offended but I removed the access code from your post. While it is true that the codes are easily found in the manual, monitoring can be a sensitive issue. Not from a legality standpoint, but you wouldn't want your employees knowing the code. They may not be able to monitor from their phone, but they may walk into a supervisor's office while it's empty. For those reasons we try to be a bit more careful.

I have gone ahead and added the right extensions to the hunt groups. Now the only way to monitor is via a hunt group? The management is looking to be able to pick up any extension and monitor calls. I am still looking around for those codes for monitoring. I have zero manuals here the person who used to do the monitoring forgets the code she punched into the phone.
Thanks for the speedy replies!
You don't monitor the entire group. Perhaps the easiest way to explain it is that a hunt group supervisor can monitor anyone in that hunt group. If I create a group with extensions 1000-1010, and I'm listed at a hunt group supervisor, then my extension can monitor any of those extensions. Now if I also list everyone of those extensions as hunt group supervisors, then any extension could monitor any other extension.
Does that make sense?
