Does anyone know if it is possible to create a voice mailbox without an actual phone for it? One of our users hardly uses the phones at the office, but he is a prominent member of the company, so not having a voice mailbox for him in the system or in the auto-attendant seems weird. Is this possible to setup?
...and how is he to get his mail without a phone?
Either remotely or by accessing his virtual extension through any other station.
No matter. Turns out this system does not support virtual extension like that. Didn't think it would, but a guy can dream.
If this is an X16, you cannot have a mailbox without having a phone.
Can you set up an unused extension with voicemail, and then unplug the phone set and use it elsewhere? The X16 has 16 extensions.
Cannot be done, no virtual boxes like nec or panasonic

nor Nortel. Keep in mind that the X16 was designed as a basic, starter system. Great system but with certain limitations.
