Hi all,

We are running into a feedback issue at a location with 6x installation. Other installs have been with self powered speakers, however in this location we are coming out of the 6X line out port and connecting to input on a Bogen 70V paging system that was already in place. Paging works fine if the page is initiated from an office phone, however as soon as we try paging from the warehouse - in the vicinity of the horns, can even be 30-40' away - we get massive feedback over the circuit.

Does anyone have a tried and true device to place between the 6X and the Bogen 70V amplifier to eliminate the feedback?

Thanks,

Joe
This is what you want:

Valcom's new Feedback Eliminator digitally records your page, and then plays it back through the speakers when the person paging hangs up the telephone.

Example: Bakeries
Paging is an essential part of communication in most bakeries. However, the supervisor making the page is often in the oven area where ambient noise is extremely high. Since this area requires very loud paging, any page made directly from that area will cause feedback. This problem is totally eliminated with Valcom's Digital Feedback Eliminator. Coupled with the Ambient Noise Level Controller, paging is very effective in extremely demanding environments.

Another option is the Viking FBI-1A https://www.retrevo.com/s/Viking-FBI-1A-review-manual/id/20833ci061/t/1-2/

We have used these for years and have not had any problems whatsoever.

Question: Why didn't you use the Paging Port/MOH port?? You're using up a Line Port---it really doesn't make that much difference---just curious.

Also: Make sure your customer is not hitting that page key before picking up the handset. That, for sure, will give you a squeel. Make sure the volume levels are in the mid rang on your phones (both speaker and handset)---sometimes customers want to crank it up to max level---that creates huge problems. Those handset mics are pretty sensitive. What;s the noise (db)level of the area of those phones that are getting a squeel?? If it's noisy at times, you may encounter problems with people hearing the caller.

The reason I'm asking, is because you seem to indicate that the squeeling was not a problem before the Allworx was installed.
I'll second JW's nomination of the Viking unit, https://vikingelectronics.biz/products/view_product.php?pid=112

Although I do not have hands-on experience with this particular model, I have used other Viking products before and have been very satisfied with them.

As the speakers are not engaged when the page is recorded, there will be no feedback. When the person paging hangs up the phone, this until will then playback the message through the PA system.
