I'm attempting to record the AA menu prompts and announcements in my computer, and to then import them into the Messaging R6 module via the LAN and the R6 administration software. The problem is that the import process injects a lot of noise (static) into the WAV file and the end result is a very weak and noisy AA message. Also noticed that Music on hold is equally weak and noisy. Any suggestions on how I should troubleshoot?
Start by exporting a message that you have recorded via the system administrator's mailbox, and see if you can import it to another AA to check the quality. Make sure that your audio software is encoding your wav files with the same bit rate, etc as the exported message.
Thanks. Will try today and post results later tonight.
You may be unto something here. I had recorded that AA menu prompts from Window's Sound Recorder. I extracted a good recording that I had made through a phone, and the format, bitrate, etc, were different. Just about the only similarity the others I had recorded was that they were all WAV files. I'm now experimenting with new prompts with different settings and I'll let you know how it goes. I'll post the final results. I'm sure I'm not the only person who has encountered this problem. Thanx.
Thank you Touch Tone Tommy. Whenever an AA recording is sent to Partner Messaging over the LAN using the administration software, it must be sent as a WAV file encoded in the GSM 6.10 format, sampled at 8KHz, mono. Luckily, Window's Sound Recorder can encode in the GSM format (and SoundForge too). Goldwave, a widely available shareware, doesn't recognize the GSM WAV format. AFAIK, the manuals don't reveal this highly important tidbit of information.
Jelly Bean - very cool! I knew that Partner Messaging used some type of format that is "non-standard", but didn't know the exact parameters. I haven't had opportunity to create messages on my PC, however I have routinly save customer's recordings for archive purposes.
