This is a customer request on a definity system they dont want to dial 9 for each phone call they make, they want to hit speaker or lift the hand set and the pbx will automaticaly dial 9 for them. Need programming steps for the solution thanks.
I'm not a definity tech, but as with most PBXs, if you get immediate outside dial tone upon lifting the handset (or pressing speaker), how do you make internal calls to other stations or the voice mail or paging?

Well on the definity system the intercom tone sounds like dial tone you just hit the ext #
I am not a Definity tech, but I have done this with Magix/Legend and Norstar/BCM. You will have to build call routes for all possible external dialing arrangements. It's a pain, but it will eliminate the 9. The switch will route the call depending on the digits dialed.
Configure existing COR to remove trunk access code 9, or build new trunk group with members as DIOD.
Give them a personal CO line access button. It means that you have to create a PCOL from your existing trunks, or have some dedicated lines installed for that purpose. That way, anyone who does not want to dial a 9, will have to have a special button and dedicated trunk line for their needs. This way you don't affect the entire system.

Release 10 and above you can assign uniform dial plan tables to analyse all digits being dialed and route 7+ digit strings to route to ARS to be sent to the outside trunks. The feature "ARS without fAC" must be turned on in system-features customer options.
