Hi All,
The drugstore I work at has a Spirit system.
4 lines, 3-24 button phones, 1-4 line cordless phone, a fax machine, and some modems. Very simple setup. Anyway, I was talking with the owner since she knows I am good with phones, and she mentioned that one of the phones was restricted to only be able to receive calls and is not able to make any outgoing calls. She said the previous owner did this and she doesn't know how to get rid of it. Is there any simple way that I can reprogram this phone for her so it can make outgoing calls? The phone is extension 12 in the system if it makes any difference. Links to a manual or instructions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Jeff

You need to go into programming to take off the restriction. Here is the link for avay, com, scroll down to the bottom to the Spirit manuals.

im curious as to how you are using the 4 line cordless phone with the spirit system....they do not support any of the Avaya Cordless Phones...

Unless the extension number is critical, you could just swap it to another port and test to see if it is restricted.

cordless is just a panasonic, nothing special.
they don't use this phone much, just to answer a few calls. almost all the calls we get are for the pharmacy, this phone is at the front register. it's not extremely critical.

apparently it's not connected to the system, it just has the 4 lines on it. It's like a power failure phone that won't work when the power goes off because it's cordless.

thats right, it isnt connected to the system, it just uses the same 4 lines that the system does. our phone setup is quite a mess, it's hard to decipher what goes where.

i talked to the owner, for now she wants to leave it as is. the reason it is set up like this is so we employees cant sit and talk on the phone while working. the only concern I have about this is not being able to dial 911 in an emergency.
thanks for the help
jeff
