Can someone tell me if the bit rate 1.????can be change to 2.048 on a ds1 or what DS1 card I need to get. This is part of the inband CID I am working on. When I try to ch tr and set trunk type to DIOD it say I need 2.048 bit rate.

1.544 MBPS is T1 DS1. This is 24 DS0 64KBPS channels plus 8k overhead bits used in the USA. 2.048 MBPS is E1 DS1. this is 30 DS0 64KBPS channels plus signaling and overhead bits used in Europe.

RedTail is right! It is a european standard. You usually have to get special cards for this other rate. Depending on the product, sometimes you can strap the cards and flash writable rom.

If your query is for Avaya/Lucent system then following is the solution.
On the DS1 circuit pack( Tn 2464 B) you will have a dip switch from where you can convert it to work for T1(1.544 Mb) or E1 (2.048 Mb).
