When I need an unassigned/vacant/free port to create a new station I will choose under li\conf\sta a port marked unassigned. More often than not it is a "restore port for softphone" Is there a way to differentiate?
A flag to turn on or something?

Thanx

Could you please explain yourself a little better.
What type of system for starters.

I think this is what he is talking about Mike.

I am not running softphones, so I am not really sure what you mean here. Do the IP softphone also use the digital boards?

I use a program (Non- Avaya) https://www.utilcall.com/ the Call flow extract to find our ports. Much nicer layout than the switch is capable of. Also can be in excel format for easy use in ASA for imports and exports. Also their is a 10 day free trail if you would like to give it a whirl.. You'll like it.

I think he means that his digital phones also have softphone flagged to yes. So when a digital phones user logs into softphone the port goes from 01C0501 to S00001. Now it appears that 01C0501 is open, but it isn't as when the softphone logs out the port goes from S00001 to 01C0501.

This may not be the best answer, but if you can put a digital cross connect at every desk then you only need to look at your 110 field for ports without cross connects.
He's either talking about the Hot Desking feature or the separate/bind code thing used when relocating extensions.
