I have a user who just flat out didn't want a phone system and bought 4 of the ATT 4-line phones: 1 1080 and 3 1040's. Everything is connected and the AA is programmed with extension mailboxes and life is good.

A question that has popped up that I cannot find an answer to. If another extension is listening to their "Sys Ext" messages remotely from at 1040 to the 1080, the 1080 cannot answer a new incoming call. Or if the 1080 is on a call, the other users cannot retrieve their messages. Is this normal behavior?
Seeing as this is NOT a system, you only have one intrnal path, one is one and that's all folks.
It's really quite simple- you get what you pay for.

like having 1 port of VM.
That is pretty much how they operate.

The auto attendant and voicemail functions offered by No-KSUs like the 1080 & 1040 are extremely basic.

The user would be best served by a good business-oriented telephone system.
I love all the hate towards these POS's. I agree you get what you pay for. Sometimes, though, you just have to make due with what the customer really thinks he wants. Thanks for the info.

Mark, that's probably the best way I'll explain it to them.
