Hello everyone,

I just have a quick question:

What type of port is the Music on Hold jack on an Avaya processor module? Will a standard 3.5mm (headphone) plug work, or is it an RCA (Video/Audio cable that can be used with TV's) port?

Thanks,
telecom guy10

Partner ACS is RCA

I've got another question that isn't related to music on hold, but I don't think it's major enough to start a new topic:

Can you use an Avaya MLS 18D phone for programming at ext. 10/11?

Thanks,

I believe you can (if not someone will chime in).

18D and 34D sets are commonly used to program a Partner system. The Partner ACS's documentation will have diagrams of which buttons do what when you go to program the system using various system phones.

As long as any other extension(s) you might add, later on, to the system uses a 6,12 or 18 button set, you should be good. smile

I know you said you could use MLS 18D/34D phones for programming, but could you use an MLX 10DP phone? I wasn't sure whether the MLS and MLX were designed for different systems.

Thanks again,

No, you can not use MLX phones on a Partner.
MLX was designed for the Legend systems.
MLS was designed for the older Partner systems.

Nope, MLX is a Merlin Legend phone - different animal

I know this is an old post, but I just had another quick question about MLS phones. I have confused myself a little about the wiring for Partner systems- I thought that a two-pair line cord meant that the cord had only two wires.. Are Partner phones (MLS and Euro) two-pair or single-pair?

Thanks,

2 pair = 4 conductor
1 pair = 2 conductor

a single line phone on a Partner (or any other system ) uses one pair

Thanks guys!

Another question: to use Automatic System Answer (#121), do you need a Partner Messaging module?

For a Partner ACS that would require an ASA/DXD PCMCIA card. I believe the card can be used with an R2.0 and newer processor.
