Hello all!

Have a customer with a bare-bones Merlin 206 system that would like to add a loud ringer near one of their extensions. They have a large bell, set up to be powered by ring voltage, that they'd like to use.

I'm not all that knowledgeable on these systems. What's the best way to do what they want to do? Add a 6103 module, and hook the bell to the 'external signal' port? (Seem to recall something about that being for DC accessories only?)

There was a feature card that plugged into one of the slots for bells and horns. I'd think they'd be pretty hard to find. Manuals are readily available online.

I'm not sure which of the cartridges suported external bells & horns. There were 2 Feature Packs cartridges, a MOH/Page cartridge and a Power Fail cartridge.

I know AT&T sold a unit that permitted the connection of standard T/R devices to the ports of the 206/410/820 systems.

6102 was the MOH/paging card. I have one here; from what I've read, it isn't the answer. 6103 was the power fail/external signaling card. It looks like a more likely candidate, but I don't have one, and don't want to order one without knowing more about it.

What would be especially interesting is if the 6103 card was anything like I've heard the 6102 was - essentially just a plastic box with some jacks and connections to the main board, without anything fancy in between. If anyone knows more about them, maybe I won't need any additional hardware at all!

The 6103 may be it:

If you can't get part:
Power Fail=pins on backplane.
MOH = pins on backplane.
Page=pins on backplane.
Ringer=pins on backplane, pull cover use meter and wire wrap tool, don't remember if it rang or was just a contact.

for two lines I would add two analog devices in front of the system . cheaper and quicker
