Hi new too this forum any help would be greatly appreciated,

I'm working on an Avaya Partner ACS ver 6.0 with 5 slot cabinet. Main processor and 4 206E modules.

I added a new 206E module to add additional co lines, the lines are available on all handsets and can receive calls but can't call out.
line 8 has the same issue in a 206E module that was already in the system.

CO lines: 10

lines 1 - 7 work fine.

lines 8-10 receive calls but can't make outgoing calls.

So far I have checked all the settings from ext 10, there are no restrictions, the lines are set as tone / pulse.

I connected one of the new lines to port 7 to verify the ability to dial out and it works fine, all lines can dial out from my handset at the 110 block.

When trying to call out the dial tone does not interrupt. it returns after each number is pressed.

I couldn't find any reference to co line settings in the manuals.

thanks,
Carmen

You checked #302, 307, 401?

Probably the easiest way around this is to just default the system and re-program. Doesn't sound like you would have much to do.

I did not check 307 or 401, I will look at those today.

Thanks!

No luck with those settings.

Are they assigned to the extension?

What is involved in a system reset?

All lines ring to all extensions, three lines won't dial out. The dial tone does not break on key presses.
Did you do the basic troubleshooting of swapping CO-7 through 10 with CO-1 through 3 to determine if the issue is with the Partner system or the telco?

Have you swapped the old and the new 206 modules to determine if it is associated with the modules?

Do you have a PC card in the ACS? If so, back up the current configuration to the PC card, and then do a factory default. Now with all lines assigned to all extensions, and no restrictions, what happens? You can always do a restore to get back the original settings.

You probably don't have the lines assigned to the extensions

That doesn't make sense because he can receive calls on those lines on those extensions. The lines are assigned to buttons but outgoing calls are blocked.

Sometimes the software gets corrupted and does strange things like this. Time to default and start from scratch.

I would almost guarantee it isn't corrupt software ..... it's an IT guy trying to program an old school KSU with zero training or experience with it!

Well you know I won't argue with you there.

I did swap lines to verify telco lines are ok, you can dial out on them when I switch them and can't dial out on the lines they were swapped with.

There is a pc card in the system.

I have not tried to swap the modules.

All lines are assigned to all extensions.

No restrictions on any extensions.

Is it normal to not nave access to any pooled line features? When I try to check any features involving pooled lines it beeps on entry of the last digit.

Very rarely do you find a Partner set up in pooled mode.

I suggest you reach out to one of the Avaya mods and hire them for an hour of phone support. It's a simple little system .... once you know it.

Oh, it's in pooled (hybrid) mode? Shoulda said that to begin with. Very rare indeed!

So you have extensions with line buttons and some with pool buttons?

-Hal
I read it as NOT in pooled mode

Devil's advocate. What happens if you change #104 on the fly? Worst case is that it defaults the pool and ring assignments.

I've never done this to an installed and programmed system, but it might be quicker than backup and restore.

Number of lines is used only during initial system setup. If you have all your modules installed at the time of initial powerup the system will recognize the total number of lines and automatically set 104 to that number. If you want to remove some lines, you do that through 104 before you do any other programming (that's why it's right after setting the time). After the system is programmed and in operation you add and remove lines from extensions via 301. Add additional modules you use 301 to assign those lines to extensions even though 104 doesn't reflect the additional lines.

Changing 104 after the system is programmed can mess some things up depending on what features were programmed. Tommy can probably tell you what. If 301 doesn't do it there is no reason to change 104 unless you want more problems.

If the system is in KEY mode (which is the out of box default) trying to program any of the pool items will result in an error beep.

I wouldn't even do a backup- dump everything and start from scratch. If he's afraid the system won't work the default is a square system- all lines assigned to all extensions and all extensions ring on all lines. Can't go wrong.

Latest update:

System reset - set time and date: Same problem incoming calls are ok, can't dial out..

Swapped one of the new 206e modules with original working 206E, ( slot 5 to slot 1) : New module works as designed in slot 1, old module in slot 5 will not dial out.

There is a pcmcia backup restore card installed.

The backup batteries were corroded. cleaned terminals and replaced batteries.

I also tried powering down the system down and up without the pcmcia card: same issue exists.

Should I try a system reset without the pc card installed?

Yo u say you added a New 206e, there is not such thing as New. Probably 20 years old or more.

Sometime times you have to either walk away or upgrade. Plenity of use Partner processors R 7 or R 8 and Refurbed 3x 8. Get rid of the 206 Mods.

You have been at this for weeks. It's must be costing the end use a fortune for this. Unless for work for free.

New as in new to the system...

Take the batteries out and power it down for a minute. Remove the PC card. Now power it back up. When it comes back up it should be defaulted. WITHOUT DOING ANY PROGRAMMING OR REPLACING THE PC CARD, do all lines appear on all extensions and if so do you get dial tone for the ones that are connected to the system?

If not replace the processor.

I agree with Tommy
