I'm trying to connect a Cisco SPA 112 to a telephone system that supports SIP 3rd party extensions.

The install instructions are not very clear.

I need to register this device locally for test purposes.
Then, I need to register these devices from off site locations.

I've put in the server IP, user name and password, but the unit is not registering.

Any help would be appreciated.

Have you checked the programming in the phone system?

If I am not wrong, SPA 112 has both username and user ID, try to put in Server IP , user ID, password.

That's a tough situation, and there are lots of things to go wrong.

I suggest you try these steps:

  • Verify that the server has the extension number and password that you think it does.
  • Check the server logs and verify that the SPA-112 is getting packets into the server.
  • Check that the SPA-112 has an IP address in the same subnet as the VoIP server. Put the IP address, Gateway, and Subnet Mask in manually, and put them both on the same Ethernet switch if there's any doubt about connectivity.
  • Ask every SPA-112 user you can find if they have connected an SPA-112 to the same type of server you use, and get their config files!

HTH.

I doubt that you are trying to connect it to an Ipitomy system, but here is their wiki page on how to configure it.
