I have a new Dr's office with SBX 6 line's 6 stations. Trying to save some money they opted not to add voice mail. They do have one particular line that they would like to ring to 2 stations but they would like to add an answering machine to. I told them that I was not sure if this would work but I would look into it. Has nayone ever done this and got it to work? I do have station 107 wired as a single line phone. It will make call's out but the answering machine will not pic up

When you Call into ext 107 does you single line phone ring? and have you tested the answering machine with the telco line plugged strait into it bypassing the sbx entirely?

If the SBX is functioning properly the SLT(single line Telephone) plugged into it should not be able to tell the difference between it and a normal TelCo line, which is why I ask if the answering machine functions the way you want it to when bypassing the SBX.

It should work, can't be any harder than hooking up a fax to an SBX. If a test set or analog phone rings at 107, then I would say get a different answering machine. You said it would call out? I take that you used an analog phone on pins 4 and 5 to test that?

It sounds as though you have not programmed ringing for sta 107 on those lines.

Does it answer when you dial 107 from another extension?

When all else fails check the obvious. Station was not programed to ring. I had it set up originally as a fax line and turned it off when they wanted to get rid of the fax. Thanks for the kick in the rear guys. LOL
