This morning's Email from Best Buy talked about...amongst other things...trading in "old technology" for new.

So...out of morbid curiosity...I checked to see how much my Microsoft Surface Pro 3 (I7/256G) in "Good" condition was worth.

Now keep in mind that the Surface Pro 3 is a current model. The I7/256G sells for $1549.00 brand spanking new.

Thd Best Buy offer.... $250.00

The Best Buy offer for the I7/512G version...which sells for more than $1,900.00 brand new.... $765.00

Now compare that to what Best Buy has listed for an Apple iPad Air (1) 16G (WiFi only version).

Sale price... $499.00. Best Buy offer if in "Good Condition" and unlocked.... $170.00.

To me, the offers for the Microsoft units and the older Apple iPad Air seem way out of whack.

Thoughts eh
Bust buy is seriously whacked smile

I got my iPad at Game Stop. A 3 WiFI with 16g cost me about $200.

I still keep thinking back to when they were blowing the first Surfaces out the door for less than $200.

The first two iterations of the Surface and Surface Pro did leave something to be desired. The third version of both devices is, actually, quite good.

I really like my Surface Pro 3. I spent some time trying out a Surface 3 and, for what I would use it for, it works out nicely. So much so, I picked up some accessories in advance of an anticipated purchase of the 4G/LTE version which is due out soon. It will replace my trusty Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2012), which is no longer receiving updates from Samsung and Verizon.

Microsoft is catching flack for the premium pricing of the Surface tablets and associated hardware. Apple products have been premium priced for quite a while, yet people gladly plunk down their credit cards...or now tap their iPhone 6's...with seemingly few complaints. crazy
I was in a Bust Buy and pulled out my trusty Iphone 4. The look on the drone's face was priceless. Yeah, but mine still works in iOS 6 and I carry a Jetcard. It's already in its second Otter case and its only a PHONE. Geeze, I have a tablet and a netbook (and a laptop, etc. etc. etc).

The other day my customer pulled out his 6+. The damn thing sticks out about 2" above my cell phone pocket.

That 6+ is cutting into sales of the iPad mini. My Samsung Galaxy S4 suits my phone needs. I don't begrudge anyone who wants to spend money on an iPad. The device fills a need and...even though I don't own any Apple e
products , I do have unfettered access & use
of an Ipad Air.
