Here's what we are trying to do:
3300 ICP
I've made a group page with all of my speaker cable phones in it (models 5010, 5020, 5215, and 5220)
That number comes out to be around 250 users
When we perform a test, it seems about 60/40 if you hear the page or not.

Does anyone know if there is a max on the number of users that should be in a group?

I think it's 64 ip phones in a page group

You can spread them out in different group and do All Zone Page.

Is there a different command for an All Zone Page

Don't know if vad60 is talking about pa page versus group page. You can only page 64 ip sets at the same time. If you are trying to do more, you should look into pa paging. Regardless of my comments, you should use the help that is provided with the 3300. All that you asked is easily found there. Sorry but it seems that the questions asked here lately are by people who don't do any leg work.

John-
You make a good point... and I can understand that, however, the documents mention 64 IP phones, and that's great. But, it's simply NOT how it's working in the real world. I did a test with 250 phones yesterday. ~100 folks heard it, all IP phones, all in the same page group (group page).
I was wondering more specifically, if you were to nest those groups inside of a parent group if it would work, or if there is some other work around being that the phones are spread across a 65 acre college campus.... I guess I'll just keep testing and let the board know if there is a work around for it.

Up to 16 page groups are supported by the system. Each group can have up to 250 members with a maximum of

16 IP Phones with the CX or CXi Controller

32 IP Phones with the 100 User, 250 User, or MX Controller

32 IP Phones with the MXe

64 IP Phones with the MXe expanded

64 IP Phones with the AX Controller

64 IP Phones with the MXe Server

64 IP Phones with the 700 User or LX Controller.

The number of IP Phones in a page group is limited to 50% of the available E2T channels. On most systems, the actual limit will be less than the physically provisioned limit of E2T channels. Paging groups should be configured with this in mind. In addition, if the connection is across a WAN link, the number of IP Phone members may be limited by bandwidth availability.

That's great, I READ the documentation, I wanted to know if any other folks had gotten different results like I did in a real world test. That way I'd see if you could configure it differently to get all 250 of my phones in.

Randy,

Fair enough. I have seen that the number does seem to hold true. I haven't run across this issue often, since most wide range paging requirement sites had pa systems. I did do a site where we did a combo overhead and phone sets with ip paging units in the page group.

Is the overhead paging fairly easy to setup across a large setting... ie does it require an analog line to be there? If that's the case, I may look into doing what you've done.

You would need some type of copper connectivity, or like I said, you can hook an ip paging unit to a remote pa system. It's likely cheaper to use the paging units than to try to get multiple zones from the 3300.

You could also purchse some type of zone paging controller from Bogen or Valcom.
