Hello everyone,

We have a Mitel sx200 el-ml that I am trying to understand better with your support (for which I am thankful).

My latest mission is an analog line that needs to be used for a credit card machine. This line works fine for the most part, but every now and then, an incoming fax tone will come in and prevent the CC machine from dialing out.

What is the most simple way for me to :

1 - find the phone # for this line & track it down in the system

2 - prevent fax noise from interrupting its dial tone (Im not sure yet if its outgoing or incoming fax)

Thanks for any tips or experience you can offer on this.

You probably need to trace this line out as it is most likely sharing a fax line. This is done at a lot of places. Is it a direct line from the Telco or an extension on the Mitel? When it dials does it have to dial a 9? Can you plug a phone or a test set into it and dial 0 or another extension like a superset? If not on the system you could dial a cell phone or someone that has caller ID.
Exactly. You need to determine the origin of the line. It makes a lot of difference if it is a PBX extension or a POTS from the telco.

Once you determine that, we can help you with the resolution.
