Some hotels are requiring the auto 911 feature to be enabled.

I am going to do it, but expect mis-dialed calls to 911

I thought about setting up in my ARS a string of 11X and if the caller dials anything after 911 they go to a bad route and gets re-order tone.

It works on my test system but I am wondering if that is the right thing to do?

The only problem with that, is the delay you'll have when people are actually dialing 911.
I would be sure to inform the property of the potential for mis-dials, and have them make the final decision.
We can only do so much! Some things are actually 'management decisions' and not phone guy responsibilities!

Most franchise companies want you to send out 9-911, 8-911 and 911 with no access code.

We always put all outbound calls on 8+ and restrict the 9 level to 911 and 9+911 only.

Marriott can be a problem because they want outgoing traffic on the 9+ level.

But no matter what, do not block 911 in any way.

Hope that helps, cheers!
