We have a Mitel 3300.

We'd like to restrict one of our DIDs to only 100 lines of our 8 PRIs.

We received a ton of calls one day where that number used all of our lines by putting people on hold. We didn't have any lines available to make calls or receive calls on our other DIDs.

Thanks

Okay, this would involve the order setup from the Telco. Let's call the PRIs 1-8. If you say to the Telco, "Please associate these DID numbers (or this DID block) with these PRIs 1-4, and that DID block with PRIs 5-8," then you could separate the two sets of DID numbers.

That's the only way I know to restrict DIDs to a certain set of trunks.

But before you go making drastic changes to the PBX, you probably want to do a "peg count" analysis. This would be a count of how many calls are coming in, how many are nailed up, etc. over a set period of time.

You might also want to consider some other questions:

1.) Do you have trunks in the 8 PRI group which are busied-out or otherwise unavailable?
2.) Is the all-circuits-busy condition a one-time thing, or a frequent occurrence?
3.) Would adding an additional PRI resolve the issue?
4.) Why does the one DID receive such a huge volume of calls (184 at a time!)?
Etc.
