Hey Guys:

I recently took over maintence of several Tie EK-2464 systems. I have a Texas Inst Silent 700 for programming and have had a few training sessions from a tech who has worked on these before.

I have a site that has 2 tenant groups and group 1 uses lines 1-9. Group 2 uses 10-18. I want to add line 19 to tenant 2 and button map this line on the 1st DSS key. I have not been able to make a line key work and cannot get to tenant group 2 either.

Any ideas or advise will be appreciated!

Lighthouse Bill

I really liked that system but its been quite a few years since I worked on one

I would dump the silent 700 and program with a laptop it will make things much simpler
(I sure don't miss those reams of thermal paper underfoot )

I'll take a look at the manual latter and see If I can find something to help you out

This is a BusCom right?? Are the phones the 15000 series sets?

I don't remember using a Silent 700 on this system but I probably just don't recall correctly. I thought I used a programming phone to program.....it's been quite a while.

I think I may have thrown out all of my Tie BusCom books, but I'll look anyway. Maybe one of the other Mods will jump in here who has a better memory than I do. ------- Thanks, Skip. Wasn't this programed also by flipping a plastic thing up and moving a small button with a paper clip??
Or was that another TIE system??

Well, I found a BusinessCom Plus program record form (printed in 1987)

It looks like you have to look in Program 1, 2, 3 maybe 6, then 7, & 20. That should get you going, I think. What do you think, Skip??

JWR think TCX 128, the ones with the NOISY power supplies! Only 1 cabinet instead of 2. They also came in in 816 and 1632, determined by CPU restrictions, still used the same cabinet. Probably out of production by '88? Early ones would go dumb during a brown out or AC power blink, because the memory support battery wouldn't switch quick enough. MAN, I hated those things. More than once I went to the sight because "Some phones are doing strange things". Open the equipment room door and CRASH, stupid thing would just plain QUIT, CPU failed! After a year or so, TIE got the bugs out, but by that time the systems were no longer leading edge and the architecture wasn't capable of much enhancement. They were replaced by the Death..er Data Star. And we won't talk about that one, if you don't mind. frown John C.

boy, those tcx128 power supplies sure were heavy. Maybe 50 lbs or so if I remember. And you guys are right, REALLY NOISY.

The EK-2464, wasn't that the Big Blue Cabinets? I Never used the Sil. 700 for Programming but I remember You had to take the Face Plate off the DSS and Press a Button to get into Programming Mode. MAN, That was a Long time Ago, I'm surprised the Power Supply Hasn't Burned itself up. That used to Happen all the Time.

Sorry I haven't responded back sooner. What I would like to know if anyone has any ideas is how to make line 19 a private line and add to several phones. I have a group of phones that are not using line buttons 1-10. Any help will be appreciated.

Aren't some of you guys thinking about the 820/1232/2260 Meritor. The six-wire system? They were programmed via the DSS and assigned phone. Same with the biz-com 4 wire systems in the BLACK (?) cabinets. (They were just like the Meritor systems without off-hook hands-free IC.)

L-B, isn't there a 'PVT' or 'PVT Line' selection in the assorted stuff like DND and such that is individually programmed for each phone? I'll take a look at the books tonite and see if I can remember. LLLOOONNNGGG TTTIIIMMMEEE AGO! frown

there where various software rev on them also if it where me I would just sit down in front of the terminal with test phone nearby and try to figure it out

Just looked, you can limit access and turn audible on/off on a line by ext basis. But, you cannot move it to a different key. Remember, this system design is over 20 years old! frown
