I am supposed to move a Nitsuko DS-2000 which I am certain is the same as the NEC DS2000. I have the NEC DS2000 software and the NEC DS2000 cable. I connect the cable and start up the software. I use the DS2000 password with 8N1 19200 and it never connects. Is it just the case of needing a reboot? Or is it different software altogether?

Just a quick google search I found.
From any display telephone:Press ICM + #*#* + Password + HOLD
.•The default system passwords are:Installer (level 3) = ******
System Administrator 2 (level 2) = ****
System Administrator 3 (level 1) = ****

Try those numbers.

On this same manual the modem connection is
The remote PC must have a modem connected.
Also, the default communications parameters of the CPUserial port are 4800 8 N 1 (4800 baud, eight data bits,no parity and 1 stop bit).

Ok,I probably tried every speed except 4800. I will have to try again.

FYI,
I am not a telecom tech but I have dealt with communication issues with security and building controls such as fire and HVAC..
All I can say is baud and parity and bits make a difference as well as the correct cable to connect with.

Assuming the front end will work to connect with.

Of course the last obstacle is, did someone change the default password?

I had some motorola paging terminals once that required hayes1200 baud modems ( non auto baud) to work.
They would not work with autobaud modems.
Try to find one even 10 years ago,

I tried every port speed and changed the speed in 0301 but did not work. No worries though. Thank you.

According to the hardware manual the default parameters are: 4800-N-8-1

Remember this is an OLD system prior to Y2K...if you remember that.
