Putting in my first (small) grocery store install. They want the 616 Norstar because it's inexpensive. They also need a paging loudspeaker for the checkstands. I was thinking maybe a 5 watt Valcom wall speaker, powered by a 24v transformwer might be sufficient.
I believe the audio paging pair is the v-or (or v-gr) pair on the Norstar.

Would this 5 watt paging system be loud enough for a grocery store ? Most importantly- how do you access the loudspeaker? By feature code? Zones?

If you push a programmed button for page the display will ask for sets, speakers, or both. there is also a dial code for set page, speaker page, or both. I would make a speed dial button to dial the speaker only code to make it a one touch operation. I don't have the manuals here in front or I would give you the exact codes.

And 5 watt is plenty for most apps.

Feature 60 is your basic page
Feature 61 is paging through the phone only
Feature 62 is thru the external paging port only
Feature 63* (* =zone) does both
