Greetings;
I am trying to move my phone lines on my T7316e phone. I would like my 6 outside lines on the first six buttons on the lower panel.
I tried moving them with f *81 but it will only swap the lines with other existing lines. When I try moving my first line to the first button on the left, I get an "Invalid Location" message. How would I go about moving these lines?
Are you sure it is a T7316e, and not a T7316? Only the "e" style supports a line on the first three keys (both right and left).

the s/w also will need to be 6.0 or higher.
Hey!!! Thanks for the replies!!! Yes, it is indeed a T7316e. It states it on the back of the phone.
As for the software... Yikes!!! I just bought the phone and am not a phone technician. I bought the phone from Nortel, they sent it to me, I plugged it in to our system and that's the extent of my phone knowledge.
Who is responsible for updating the software?
Are there any other suggestions on moving the lines to the left side of the lower panel?
F*81 is the right (only) way to move lines. You'll just be confined to the lower 10 keys (5 left, 5 right) on those phones, with the software you have.

Thanks, BCM. I will use the 5 keys as stated. How does one go about determining the software version? What is the advantage of the newer software?
The software version is listed on the sofware card plugged into the system. I think you will find 6.0 or older to be the case. Nortel decided with the 7316 and the 6.0 sodtware to stich\k the line appearances into the middle of the phones...which the customers hated... they corrected this with the 7316E and 6.1 software...
Send back phone and get a M7310 or M7324.
They don't make the M7310 or M7324 anymore. That's why I had to get this model. How does one go about updating the software?
the m7310 and m7324 are still avalable in the refurb market,
let me know if you need one
